Piracy

Burns: And to think, Smithers, you laughed when I bought Ticketmaster. [imitating Smithers] Nobody’s going to pay a hundred-percent “service charge.”
Smithers: It’s a policy that ensures a healthy mix of the rich and the ignorant, sir.

Here is what has been bugging me in the debate: The state is jumping on the bandwagon a bit too fast when it comes to limiting your right on the net. With the telecom package around the corner you start asking yourself whose best interest the state has at heart. Do you know a single person who thinks this kind of government control is a good idea?

Then unfortunately on the other side of the debate, at least in Sweden, you find the Pirate-party. A whole political party whose only issue is the right of filesharing and the freedom of information or something like that. They want to get my vote, when filesharing is like the least of the worlds problems at the moment. Its very depressing, guys there is a name for one-issue organizations: lobby group. Allright?

So it was a complete breath of fresh air to read this article on fokus.se. It brings the discussion back to where it should have stayed in the first place: How is it possible that an album that costs a given amount of money in the store, almost costs the same amount as a digital download?

Read this article

Its in swedish, but I encourage you to use the translation engine of your choice if you need to. It’s worth it. Judging by how the way things are going now, we are heading head-first into a very dark place indeed.

Glasar

Its a big day today. Yesterday Aron lost the last one of his left contact lenses. Its has been a morning routine since he was very small to wrestle him down and put in or take out the contacts. Up until this week he really disliked the procedure, but this week he actually let us do it himself! Its a very big step, since now that he is talking more and more, that kind of morning trauma isn’t the best way to start your day. So anyway, yesterday he lost the last one of his contacts. This is always a problem, since he is not supposed to be without them or his vision changes for the worst. We had no option but to ship him to daycare without contacts and with his pair of glasses instead.

Imagine my surprise when the following little guy comes to meet me at daycare when its time to pick him up!

He had been using his glasses for the whole day without any problems. Its the first day of his life with glasses, and its a great day.

Gimo herrgård

We made a weekend in the country as the first of our priorities for this years easter holidays. We have both been working hard, and our recent move was right in the middle of our proper wedding anniversary. So we decided to give the Gimo Herrgård a visit for the first time.

This great mansion was raised in 1760 to mark the status and give the proper luxurious enviroment for the owner of the Gimo industries. Most of the old industrial buildings are still around and give great scenery for walks. I really recommend this place as a getaway. The food is top-notch and the rooms are great. Every room has a yakuzzi and if you are lucky you get a private sauna as well! The only thing that was odd was that some of the paintings in the great halls probably did not come from the castles previous owners. Mermaids having graphic sex? I think not.

Today on friday we had a social gathering with family and we are in fact going to meet most of that gang again tomorrow for more sociabilities.

After that I hope that easter will give us some time to work on our apartment. Our handyman has promised us he will be ready by the 1:st of May. Lets hope so! The office I am writing in right now features a narrow path of free space, in an ocean of boxes and building supplies, that leads to my desk.

My internet tips for today is the family tree link for our newest member of the family. We met her again today and she is adorable: Isabel Valentina.

Buy my desk

Desk

Hand-built in the 1930′s for an industrialist in the northern parts of sweden. This antique from the Gumucio Bergström estate is now for sale. The measures of the working area are 140 x 84.5 cm, the height is 74cm.  And thats also why I’m selling it. In our new home the doorways are only 70cm wide, we have no hope of getting it into the office.

Desk and chair

Come and get it!
