The bicycle present was so huge for him that he still can’t really admit that he owns one,

In one way the time has gone by so very quickly, and in another it is hard to even imagine what your life was like without him. So radical is the change in a parents heart that life without your kid turns into a faded memory.

With cake and champagne (for the older children..), we took up a little table in the sun where the kids could run freely and the grownups talk more or less calmly. Many friends and family joined us and Aron could well have been entirely without toys before this party, since there was a veritable flood of trinkets, toys, and adorable books for him. Extra fun was also the presence of the many other kids. Aron is a bit rough now, never late to push och pinch people of his own size, but the party managed to pass without great incidents.

Thanks to all of you who were there and made our evening a great one. Aron got so many impressions that it was very hard for him to go to sleep.

Its a big day today. Yesterday Aron lost the last one of his left contact lenses. Its has been a morning routine since he was very small to wrestle him down and put in or take out the contacts. Up until this week he really disliked the procedure, but this week he actually let us do it himself! Its a very big step, since now that he is talking more and more, that kind of morning trauma isn’t the best way to start your day. So anyway, yesterday he lost the last one of his contacts. This is always a problem, since he is not supposed to be without them or his vision changes for the worst. We had no option but to ship him to daycare without contacts and with his pair of glasses instead.

Imagine my surprise when the following little guy comes to meet me at daycare when its time to pick him up!

He had been using his glasses for the whole day without any problems. Its the first day of his life with glasses, and its a great day.

He is very talkative and can now differenciate between a car, a bus, an ambulance and a truck. You might say his special interest is cars, very noticeable at his recent eye exam, in which he scored a much higher scores when trying to find cars compared to any other objects.

This is our last week in Fålhagen by the way, next week we will be moving to a bigger apartment a bit out from the central parts of town. The only bad thing about the move is that kids daycare does not move so easily. Its going to be interesting to cart him across town in the mornings..

L spent last week in South Africa on a conference, so for one week I got to live the hard and unforgiving life of the single parent. While the kind services of my mother made it possible to still work full-time the nights with him were mine and mine alone. Aron has never been very good at sleeping entire nights, in fact were got pretty upset when we found out that there is a special section of BVC that only deals with infant sleeping disorders, when the first year, and the worst period had already passed.

So anyway, what you see in the photo above is young Aron annecting the vacuum-hoover into his already extensive collection of carts. He got very annoyed later when his pushing it around was impeded by the fact that it was hooked up to cable and hose.

After checking the goods its time to move on to grab a coffee at the coffeewagon, that is run by a group of african women, which is notable since its a booming business and its actually run by them, there is no fat-bellied husband to be seen skulking in the background. Their donuts rule all. Then, some light shopping, always with mandatory stops at the playground so Aron can stretch his legs. This particular Saturday i was shopping for a pair of reading glasses, after my surgery last week I see really well on long distances, but the synthetic lenses my eyes have now cannot adjust focus. Squinting does nothing, its flat-out impossible to read without some kind of glasses. The optician tricked me tho, and the ones i bought from Clas Ohlsson make me nauseus.. oh well. Luckily my old glasses kinda work for now.

In the evening we had invited my mother and Hasse to dinner, as a thanks for the lots and lots of help we have received, during the summer months.

Here are some long overdue pictures of the little one in action. Every month brings new changes and its amazing to see him learn new things and piece together how the world works. He can walk now, if he has support, on his own he crawls with lightning speed around the flat. If he is outdoors, contant vigilance is neccesary, as he can make his move in a split second, get away fast, and even turns corners of buildings without looking back a single time..

So here are some pictures. This is Aron at his 1 year party. Attending are Aron, Arons parents, uncle and aunt, and grandparents on both sides.

I’m alone this week, Lina is working in Spain so I have the little kid all to myself. He is a real whirlwind now, crawling around the flat with lightning speed, investigating everything. He doesn’t walk yet, but can stand just fine as long as he is holding on to something, and he has been seen standing by himself as well but without realizing it. He really is developing at lightning speed now, and I’m fortunate to be home to see it all. Currently the most exciting things are the dishwasher, that be both opened and closed. And when shopping, to examine every item that goes in the shopping cart.

So how come a whole month without any blog updates? I have been pretty busy with a musical project that I’m not sure how much I can speak about. That combined with the fact that FSC is gaining a lot of momentum, making Linas workdays extra long, means that there is precious little time for daddy to hang around doing nothing (or blog..)

Anyway, here is the little man captured at a visit we did last weekend to the Botanical Garden. Note: He is standing on his knees in the foto, not on his feet
