Aron 3 years old

Last weekend saw a tremendous party for Aron and his third birthday. We decided it would be best to divide up the occasion into two different parties, one for the family and another for his friends. It turns out to have been a very successful decision since each day was just as much as any party-planner would like to handle :)
The bicycle present was so huge for him that he still can’t really admit that he owns one,

Thank you so much to everyone for making his days great!

Winter chaos

I am enjoying the first calm week in a while, with no special agenda to fill my evenings I am using the time to just relax and sleep. It turned out it was a good week to do so because Aron and Simon are both having trouble sleeping. Aron wakes up at 5am after a restless night, and that is on a good night. On bad nights he wakes up almost every hour. Thankfully we just completed a campaign to promote rest and sleep with Aron so now he at least accepts the fact that he has to sleep in his own bed.

Anyway as I’m writing this it’s soon 8 am and I have been up for 3 hours.

Simon weighs in at 9 kilos now for his 5 month bday. He has a wonderful calm about him, completely different from Arons red-hot temper at the same age. He has just started joining us at the table when we eat, and loves crunching up newspaper paper with his little hands and is just getting the motor skills to identity toys, grab them and drop them on the floor.

Aron eating

I just discovered pixelpipe, a service for uploading pictures from mobile phones or whatever and putting it on the service of your choice. It integrates nicely with the built in “Share Online” stuff that Nokias come with, so sharing pics with the world will be a breeze from now on.
December has been a very busy month. At work the end of the fiscal year means that everyone needs to make sure they use up all their budget. Also lots of projects to close up before new years. Privately I have also been quite busy. To start with we baptised little Simon last weekend, separate blog post about that is coming. And I helped UMS to man the sound for City of Angels. Too fun. Anyway, the christmas holiday this year will be of the extra-welcome variety. Looking forward to some more time for quality blogging then!

Arons new glasses

20091205016The big problem when treating children with reduced vision, is that it’s impossible to really know what kind of adjustments to go for. Ever since we first learned that Aron had cataracts, when he was just a day old, we have been learning that the doctors are doing their best, but that pretty wild guesswork is involved. There is not much that can be done before  the child is big enough to communicate itself what works and what doesn’t.

For Aron that happened about a month ago, when we visited the St:Eriks eye-clinic for kids for the last time. He did a very good test and much to our chock was prescribed with glasses instead of what we had been expecting: another batch of contact lenses.

Thinking back on the time putting in and taking out contact lenses on Aron, its hard to understand that that period is now over forever. For brief periods in his life it has been easy to manage the lenses, but for the great majority, it has been very very hard. Imagine having to make your baby cry, twice a day, forcing lenses into his eyes or trying to remove them, while he is trying his hardest to keep his eyes shut and release himself from my grip. Heartbreaking is the word.  Last summer he was talking to himself in his crib, like he does sometimes when he cannot go to sleep.  We were just about to go to sleep ourselves, and we heard him say.  ”they hold me.   and my eyes hurt.”

So today, for our dearest kid Aron, its time a new chapter. Thankfully he spotted a few other kids also getting glasses when we were at the shop, it made it a lot easier for him as well to make up his mind and accept what was going on. He chose the pair himself, with a bit of guidance from us, and he was terrificly patient today when the girl from the shop was trying them on and adjusting.

He wore them as he left the shop, and just stood and looked at people passing by, details on walls, Christmas decorations, obviously seeing things better than ever before.

Swine flu boogie

As I’m writing this it’s just past midnight and Aron is having trouble sleeping. We got him the swine flu vaccine today, courtesy of my job, and no doubt he is right now thoughing out the side effects.

Today was quite busy: after work we spent 1 1/2 hours standing in line for the vaccine. After completing that mission and surviving Arons multiple calculated revenges “sticka DIG i armen! Stick!” it was time for a 4 hour session in the studio. I heard the Korg Trinity being played today for the first time in a good while, and to my great joy D fell in love with the Moog as well. Oh and in between that I dodged down to the city to pick up a new fast Sata drive for the studio. Turns out it saved the day!

I’m still a bit unhappy about the mess the studio is in, and i’m fresh out of ideas on how to fix it up.. Maybe Simon and Thomas can come and show it some designer love?

I’m also currently working on producing the sounds for the upcoming musical City of Angels that will be running in Reginateatern in December. Come and check it out, it is going to be great!

Now everyone is sleeping but me, and Im too worked up to sleep. Maybe worth a shot tho. tomorrow is soon here…
